xAbout us

Herefordshire Art and Craft Society (HACS), founded in 1922 and has just celebrated its centenery. Just as our founding days were a progressive time for the arts and crafts, so today they play an equally important role across an ever expanding breadth of media (from oil painting to digital art, from craftwork to keeping alive our artisan traditions).

HACS welcomes artists and craftspeople of any ability and stage of development. There are various benefits to membership in the society including the opportunity to take part in exhibitions throughout the year, and to attend lectures, workshops and social events, including a monthly coffee morning and evening meet-up.

Sir Roy Strong

HACS’ committee is run by volunteers and we are always looking for new people to join us in supporting the society’s day-to-day running and in helping to organise exhibitions, curate, co-ordinate with other artists, and everything else involved in keeping a lively society of artists and craftspeople going.

We are grateful to have Sir Roy Strong as the society’s President and Professor Allen Fisher as our Patron. HACS is a non-profit organisation with an exceptionally low annual membership fee of just £25 (one-off payment each year!).

Under the chairpersonship of Jenny Williams, the society is undergoing a new influx of life manifesting in upcoming workshops and group events to share and show your art to other artists for constructive feedback.
We will be exhibiting throughout 2019 at Gilbies Bar & Bistro in Hereford, with a new artist showcased each month.

As usual we are taking an active part in h.Art, and we are planning further exhibitions at The Courtyard in Hereford. It’s a great time to be part of HACS as we approach our 100th birthday!
