Allison’s first passion is in abstract art, including Dutch pouring techniques (though she likes to explore her skills further by taking on portrait commissions and bespoke requests). She finds inspiration from other artists’ work and from her love of nature and the great outdoors; being an avid gardener, Nordic walker and lover of animals and birds. She delights in the use of bright colours and allowing her imagination to take control. She uses various tools and techniques to create her paintings – ranging from brushes, and palette knifes to a squeegee, hairdryer & defuser, marbles, balloons, candlesticks, straws, blow torch, etc creating movement, texture and different effects.

I started out creating pictures in pastels, then oils and acrylics before moving on to mixed media (using acrylic and paper) until finally I started to produce pure paper collage pictures. I find it an exciting medium, experimental, creative, and full of possibilities.

I have had exhibitions in various venues over the years and now have framed prints and cards as well as original work all year round in Beacons Crafts, Bethel Square, Brecon.

I enjoyed the vibrant colours, patterns and textures of fabrics so much that I now only work in this medium .

I use recycled material whenever possible, from cast-off clothes, car boot finds, charity shop purchases, offcuts and scraps etc.

I combine machine sewing, hand embroidery, embellishments and applique techniques to create colourful images that depict my favourite subjects.

I have held various exhibitions of my work in the UK and Spain and a selection of framed pictures and greeting cards are available for sale at Beacons Crafts in Brecon.
